The annual rings of northern wood species are tightly adjacent to each other, and their thickness is only a few millimeters. The main thing is the silkiness that natural resin provides. That it is a substance that protects the tree from rot and reduces its thermal conductivity. This feature is characteristic only of northern wood, which is due to the climate in which local trees grow.

Siberian larch is the only coniferous tree whose wood belongs to hardwoods and in its strength is comparable to oak wood, therefore it is also called the iron tree. The service life of larch wood can exceed four hundred to five hundred years, in which it exceeds even metals susceptible to corrosion.

Density (in dry form) reaches 650 kg per cubic meter. The hardness indicator is 3.1 units.
Such material is absolutely not susceptible to drying, rot, corrosion and any adverse effects. Due to the increased density, it is difficult to process, but the furniture made from it is considered one of the most durable and strong.
